What this course is about

Commercial awareness is what turns a good junior into a lawyer people want on their team. This course shows you how businesses make money, what keeps clients up at night, and how to read the news like a lawyer looking for opportunities and risks. We ground it firmly in the Moroccan market — the sectors that matter, the deals that shape them, and the way our economy plugs into the region.

What we cover

  • 1How businesses actually make money
  • 2Reading a balance sheet without the fear
  • 3Reading the news the way a lawyer should
  • 4Sectors that matter in Morocco right now
  • 5Thinking from the client's side of the table
  • 6Talking about business at interview and beyond

What you'll walk away with

Have a real conversation about a company's business, not just its legal risks
Spot the commercial angle in a legal problem
Follow Moroccan business news with a lawyer's eye
Walk into interviews sounding switched on, not rehearsed

Edward Noakes

Founder & Instructor, MBLP

Edward founded the Moroccan Business Law Port (MBLP) to share the practical know-how that too often gets picked up by chance in a first job. He is not a veteran lawyer with decades on the clock, but he has been in and around law firms long enough to guide a good number of interns and law students — and to notice the same gaps between university and the workplace, again and again. MBLP is his way of helping the next intake arrive a little sharper, a little more confident, and ready to take on real work from day one.

Small on purpose

Every MBLP cohort is capped at 20 places. Enough for a proper group, small enough that your instructor knows your work.
